Rangers loanees Cammy Palmer and Danny Finlayson suffered late heartbreak in the early hours of the morning as they saw their Orange County SC side lose to a late goal against Sacramento Republic in the USL.
The Gers pair both started the clash with their California rivals as Villyan Bijev’s 87th-minute strike secured the three points for the hosts in a 2-1 win.

OCSC had taken a fifth-minute lead through Sean Okoli and looked to be cruising to the win when Sacramento were reduced to ten men just before the hour mark after Rodrigo Lopez.
By that point, OCSC really should have been out of sight after Sacramento keeper Rafael Diaz pulled of a number of saves to keep the score at 1-0.
With 11 minutes left, Republic equalised through Dariusz Formella before the late sucker punch which handed the hosts their sixth straight win and pulled them level with Reno 1868 FC at the top of group A.

The Rangers loanees have been regulars in the OCSC side and Finlayson lasted the full 90 minutes as he made his tenth appearance of the season while Palmer was replaced 10 minutes from the end to make his 14th appearance, scoring once and chipping in two assists so far.

The pair will remain in the US for the remainder of the USL season and will be hoping their time stateside can help them push closer to a place in Steven Gerrard’s first-team squad.
