However, Borna Barisic, Glen Kamara and Alfredo Morelos will have to be careful that the magnitude of the occasion doesn’t lead them to overexuberance in the tackle.

All three players picked up two bookings apiece in the group stages and those cautions aren’t wiped until the completion of the quarter-final stages.

There was uncertainty surrounding Barisic’s participation given that he missed the recent games against Kilmarnock and Livingston due to a knock.

However, he was declared fit by Steven Gerrard on Wednesday afternoon, and as he was a standout performer in Group G, registering four assists and helping to keep a pair of clean sheets, he will start.

Kamara has also had a two-game spell out of the side after falling out of favour, but he has a good chance of returning to the midfield for this one, particularly due to Ryan Jack’s suspension.

The Finland international played close to every minute of the group stages and has served as an important shield for the back four so far.

Last but certainly not least, is Alfredo Morelos. The Colombian striker is the most important of the three who are in dangerous territory, given that he’s currently the Europa League’s top goalscorer.

El Bufalo netted in all but one of the group stage fixtures, and having him available for both legs is crucial if the Gers want to progress to the last 16.

Filip Helander is also currently on two cautions but will almost certainly miss both legs due to injury.
