Rangers vs St Johnstone: Fans react to confirmed Gers starting XI

Rangers fans have reacted on social media after the Gers’ starting XI for tonight’s Premiership clash with St Johnstone was confirmed.

Top plays bottom in a 7:45pm kick-off at Ibrox as the Gers look to at least maintain their four-point lead over second-placed Celtic, who are taking on Ross County in Dingwall.

The two teams could scarcely be in more contrasting form, as the hosts have won all four of their Premiership matches since Gio van Bronckhorst’s arrival while Callum Davidson’s side have lost four in a row.

Gio won’t be taking the Saints likely, though, and his team selection reflects that.

One change for Rangers

The Dutchman has only made one change to the side that won 2-0 at Hearts on Sunday.

Allan McGregor continues in goal after an excellent showing at Tynecastle and the back four remains the same with James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Calvin Bassey and Borna Barisic all keeping their spots.

Scott Arfield and Glen Kamara continue in midfield and surprisingly, there’s no place for Steven Davis in the matchday squad.

Joe Aribo and Alfredo Morelos stay in the side after scoring against the Jambos, as does Ryan Kent, but there’s no place for Fashion Sakala despite a bright showing in the capital.

As we predicted, Ianis Hagi has replaced the Zambian international to provide extra creativity, with St Johnstone expected to sit in.

Will this team be strong enough to secure all three points at Ibrox?

The general consensus looks to be that this is a strong side, but plenty of supporters are gutted to see Sakala drop to the bench.
