Rangers star Ryan Kent has insisted that Celtic’s Covid-19 issues won’t change how the Gers approach this afternoon’s Old Firm game despite Neil Lennon’s side being without several first-team players.
Ryan Christie, Nir Biton and Hatem Abd Elhamed are all out while confusion surrounds Odsonne Edouard’s availability but Kent is adamant Rangers will still approach it in the same manner.
The Ibrox star is confident the Gers can come away with the three points and acknowledges there is huge pressure on both sides to get a result.
“It doesn’t change our gameplan or how we will go into the game,” Kent said, as quoted by the Daily Record. “We will still approach it with the same mentality, as though we are up against the best team we can be up against.
“There’s probably pressure on both teams. Their fans want them to go on and achieve that and our fans expect us to stop it.
“So there’s pressure on both sides. In this fixture, it is whoever turns up on the day and with the success we’ve had there before, we can go there and hopefully get the job done. We’re confident on our side.”
The Gers have a one-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership and a win over their biggest rivals would be the perfect boost after the international break.
With Celtic having played a game less than Steven Gerrard’s side, winning this afternoon would negate that and take away the chance for them to leapfrog Rangers when they do finally play Aberdeen.
