Rangers are back in Premiership action on Sunday afternoon as Gio van Bronckhorst‘s side makes the short trip to Paisley to face St Mirren – with Rangers looking to put back-to-back defeats by Celtic and Braga to bed.
The Light Blues have come in for plenty of criticism for recent performances and have a chance to show what they are capable of in the Sunday lunchtime clash.
While fans are expecting wholesale changes after the disappointment in Braga, it’s unlikely that van Bronckhorst will wield the axe wildly – but there should be a few changes at SMiSA Stadium.
Injury and fitness concerns could see one or two players dropping out of the starting XI, with Ryan Jack and Leon Balogun both likely to make way.
In attack, Fashion Sakala’s dismal performance in Portugal did nothing to convince his doubters and it will be interesting to see whether Gio keeps faith with the Zambian or opts to go with Kemar Roofe in the absence of Alfredo Morelos.
Allan McGregor is almost certain to retain his place after making his 100th European appearance for Rangers in midweek.
Ahead of him, skipper James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Fil Helander and Calvin Bassey are likely to be given the nod, although Bassey could possibly move in one with Borna Barisic starting at left-back.
After van Bronckhorst’s comments in the wake of the Braga game, Aaron Ramsey should come in to start with John Lundstram and Glen Kamara anchoring the midfield.
Having started on the bench on Thursday, Joe Aribo will likely return to the starting XI tomorrow, partnering Ryan Kent and Kemar Roofe in attack.
