Rangers travel to West Lothian on Sunday to face Livingston in their fourth Premiership fixture of the 2020/21 season.
Steven Gerrard’s side should be full of confidence off the back of three consecutive wins, with the Gers also yet to concede in league.
Livi have had a less impressive start to the campaign, although they did pick up their first point at Motherwell in midweek and can prove hard to beat on their artificial surface.
Given Rangers’ strong form, it’s unlikely that Steven Gerrard will tinker too much with his playing XI.
He does have one big decision to make at the back, though.
Impressive summer signing Leon Balogun is unavailable due to a quad strain and now the manager must choose between Filip Helander and George Edmundson, both of whom he praised during Friday morning’s press conference [Rangers FC Twitter].
Edmundson impressed during pre-season before Balogun’s arrival and while Helander was still nursing a niggle.
The 22-year-old hasn’t featured in a competitive fixture yet this season and the fact that Helander struggled against Lyndon Dykes at this venue last season could have him anticipating a call-up.
Yet, given that Sweden international Helander did well in the Europa League and off the bench for the injured Balogun in midweek, he’s more likely to get the nod.
There was no update on Allan McGregor or Jermain Defoe’s fitness on Friday morning, but Gerrard predicted ahead of the St Johnstone game that McGregor would be fit for the weekend [Scottish Herald], so he may well return to replace Jon McLaughlin.
Kemar Roofe is available but not yet match fit and he’s likely to join fellow new signing Cedric Itten on the bench, with Alfredo Morelos continuing to lead the line.
