Rangers fans have reacted after the starting XI was confirmed for Saturday afternoon’s crunch Premiership clash against Motherwell.

The Gers’ 27-game unbeaten run came to an end in midweek with a League Cup exit at St Mirren that was difficult to take for all connected to the club.

There are still three trophies to compete for over the rest of the season, though, and Gerrard’s men have a big chance to consolidate their grip on top spot in the Premiership.

With Celtic in Scottish Cup action this weekend, a victory over the Steelmen would increase their lead to a whopping 16 points.

Therefore, a strong starting XI has been named for the fixture, with five changes made from Wednesday night’s defeat in Paisley.

Allan McGregor keeps his place in goal but there are two changes to the back four with Filip Helander and Borna Barisic joining James Tavernier and Connor Goldson at the expense of Leon Balogun and Calvin Bassey.

In midfield, Steven Davis and Glen Kamara replace Bongani Zungu and Joe Aribo and they are joined by the in-form Scott Arfield.

Jermain Defoe is preferred to Cedric Itten in the no.9 role for just his third league start of the season and he’s supported by both Ryan Kent and Kemar Roofe.

Leon Balogun, Nikola Katic and Ryan Jack were unavailable for selection due to injury, while Alfredo Morelos is serving a suspension.

Plenty of Bears were delighted to see Filip Helander return to the side for the first time since early November.
