Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has named his starting XI to face Dundee United this afternoon at Ibrox – and Gers fans are unimpressed at seeing Brandon Barker retain his place in the starting XI.

The Light Blues boss has made one change to his side from the win over Hamilton before the international break as Leon Balogun replaces Filip Helander in central defence.

Barker has made four appearances so far this season for Gerrard’s side but is yet to register a direct involvement in any of the Gers’ goals so far.

With Joe Aribo missing for up to six weeks, it gives a chance for Steven Davis to cement his place in midfield in the Nigerian international’s enforced absence.

The Light Blues could set a new record if they keep a clean sheet, becoming the first side in the history of the Scottish top-flight to go the first seven games of the season without conceding.

The meeting with Dundee United is the first between the two sides in the league since 2012, with Rangers coming out 5-0 winners that afteroon.

The Gers boss’ continued faith in former Man City youngster Barker has left fans perpelexed after disappointing performances in the side so far – with several asking why he was in the team.
