Predicted starting XI v East Fife sees 11 Rangers changes

Rangers head off to a rarely-visited domestic ground this weekend when they take on East Fife at New Bayview in the second round of the League Cup – and Steven Gerrard’s starting XI is likely to look very different to the side that faced Midtjylland last night.
The Gers have only played at the tiny ground in Methil docks on a handful of occasions since it replaced the Fifers’ original Bayview Stadium in 1998 and it’ll be a totally new experience for some of the Rangers squad.

After booking their place in the Europa League playoff last night and setting up a trip to Poland to face Legia Warsaw next Thursday, Gerrard will likely be glad to have the opportunity to make a host of changes.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Gerrard change all XI players when he names his side to face East Fife and hand debuts to Filip Helander, Brandon Barker and Andy King.

These would normally be the sort of games where some of the Academy players might get a chance to shine but with the sheer number of senior players available to Gerrard, it’s hard to see a start for the likes of Josh McPake.
The trip to Poland to face Legia is going to be very much in Gerrard’s thoughts though – even if he says differently publicly – and the starting XI this weekend should reflect that.
