Livingston manager Gary Holt has praised Rangers ahead of the Premiership fixture between the two clubs at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon, as quoted by Not The Old Firm.

The Gers head into the fixture top of the table following last weekend’s dominant Old Firm victory over Celtic, with an impressive 2-0 Europa League win at Standard Liege on Thursday night only boosting confidence levels further.

In contrast, Livi lost their most recent league game against Kilmarnock and Holt knows his side are in for a tough time in Govan.

“Yes, we want to have a fair share of the ball, but they’re a very good side playing at home,” he said, as quoted by Not The Old Firm. “We know we will have to have a game plan, there will be areas where we have to double up, help your mate out, but when you get the ball you have to show you are brave enough and deserve to be on the pitch to play.”

“That’s something we always talk about, concentrate on what our strengths are. Yes, we know Rangers have players that can hurt you but we need to stick to what we are good at because if we don’t and we just worry about what Rangers are going to do to us, it will be a long afternoon.

“They certainly seem to be a very well-oiled machine at the moment. They have got that mettle, that bit between their teeth, that they know what is expected of them. It’s going to be difficult but it’s a challenge and there is nothing better than facing a challenge and going toe to toe.”

Livingston manager Gary Holt praises Rangers ahead of Ibrox clash – Verdict

Rangers certainly head into this fixture in fine form, having won their last six matches in all competitions.

Steven Gerrard’s side remain unbeaten and Holt’s complimentary comments show he’s been impressed from afar in recent weeks.

Livingston won’t simply turn up and roll over on Sunday, though.

The Lions are one of only two teams to take points off the Gers so far this season and although they pose a bigger threat to the Old Firm sides at the Tony Macaroni Arena, they are still well organised and physical on the road.
