Summer Rangers signing Fashion Sakala has been snapped in training with his new teammates for the first time as he sets about making an impression on the squad.

The Zambian international forward joins the club from KV Oostende after a successful season in Belgium where he netted 16 goals.

The striker was pictured preparing for the visit of Premier League Arsenal at Ibrox, against whom Fashion will hope to make his debut in a Gers shirt.

A pacey forward for whom there are high hopes amongst the Rangers faithful, the Gers reportedly beat off plenty of competition to secure Fashion’s signature.

Not least from the Premier League, where the likes of Newcastle United and West Ham United were reportedly interested.

Ligue 1 Champions Lille are another side who were linked with a move for the striker, with Fashion himself confirming he turned down French, English and Spanish clubs.

A positive presence whose energy is already infecting the Ibrox support, Sakala cannot wait to get started as he was put through his paces at Auchenhowie.

“I’m very happy and excited. I was looking forward to start this beautiful journey when I signed. The only thing I wanted was to be here,” said Sakala [RangersTV].

“I’m very happy and excited, I’m looking forward to continuing a beautiful and exciting journey.

“I can’t wait to start tomorrow. I’ve been on vacation for some days and then I came here and I was in quarantine for 10 days so it was quite difficult but I was positive about it.

“I’m still looking to get back to full fitness and I believe that I’ve started a lot because I was doing individual training.

“I’m looking forward to starting with the group and I believe something good will come out of it.

“I feel like it’s time to start playing football now. This club is loved and it’s a club for the people.”

Fashion Sakala, 24, is also set for a reunion with an international teammate as one of Rangers’ upcoming opponents secures a £20m+ deal.
