Rangers legend makes Europa League claim as he eyes Gers v Barca final

Rangers legend Graeme Souness thinks the Light Blues should “fear nothing and no one” in the Europa League after knocking out Dortmund as he tipped the Gers to win the competition.

Gio van Bronckhorst’s side stunned the Germans with a 4-2 win in Dortmund before a 2-2 draw at Ibrox secured the Gers’ progression to the last 16 and a clash with Red Star Belgrade.

Souness thinks that should now give the Light Blues the confidence to “go anywhere” and have “no fear” regardless of who else Rangers might face in the Europa League.

“Rangers now should have the confidence to go anywhere. They should fear nothing and no one now,” Souness said [Scottish Sun].

“Look at Barcelona.

“It’s their name which conjures up great things but this isn’t the team of Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi so Rangers should have no fear if they end up meeting them in the final.

“In fact, they should have no fear meeting anyone right now.

“Yeah, they were disappointing in the league game after Dortmund but that can happen.

“We’ve all been there but they should take a lot of confidence from turning over one of the best teams in Europe — and doing it with a bit of style.

“They were worthy winners over two games. Dortmund play in one of the big leagues and they were favourites for the tournament.

“The Westfalenstadion is a great place to play with the Yellow Wall and so on but after winning there Rangers shouldn’t worry about going anywhere else.”

Meanwhile, a Gers loanee scored a cheeky winner to send adopted side top of the league
