Rangers produced a solid performance to draw 1-1 with French side Lyon in the Europa League, however, the main talking point amongst the Rangers fans was the performance of ex-Celtic man Moussa Dembele.

It’s remarkable how much a striker can struggle when he isn’t up against players such as Rob Kiernan or Philippe Senderos, yet that’s what happened as Dembele faced off against a solid Rangers back four.

Although the striker may have shone in Scotland, the Rangers side from five years ago is night and day compared to what we have at our disposal now, and the Frenchman certainly proved it last night.

His performance didn’t go unnoticed on Twitter either, with a selection of Rangers supporters poking fun at just how poor the striker looked while facing some decent defenders.

Here are some of the reactions from Rangers fans after the former Celtic star struggled last night:

This only goes to show just how far the Ibrox side has come in five years. After that first Old Firm clash since promotion in September 2016, not many Bears would have predicted our constant improvement in European competition and of course our fantastic unbeaten title win last season.

Maybe Dembele found his level against poor defences in Scotland, as the Frenchman hasn’t exactly been setting the world on fire since his move to Lyon.

It’s fair to say that the Rangers fans enjoyed getting their own back on the player after he terrorised the horrendous Rangers backline during his spell at Celtic. The reactions on Twitter were the cherry on top after a solid performance.

In other news, Rangers fans were also loving the fact Livingston was winding up Hibs Ryan Porteous on Twitter.
