Rangers defender Nikola Katic will be at this summer’s under-21 European Championships representing Croatia – but hopefully the 21-year-old isn’t the only person from Ibrox there.
With 12 of Europe’s best young international sides competing in Italy this summer then it represents a fantastic opportunity for Rangers to be looking at players.

Croatia, Italy, Spain, France, England, Serbia, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Romania, Austria and Poland will all take part in this summer’s final and there will be some phenomenal young players on display.
With the Gers unable to compete financially with some of the giants of football today, looking at bringing in young players before they make a name for themselves needs to be the model for Rangers to follow.

Someone like Katic is a perfect example and, hopefully, he will continue to improve and attract interest from elsewhere and land the Gers a nice windfall.
Whether it’s Steven Gerrard, Mark Allen or anyone else from the club, it is too good an opportunity for the Gers to pass up looking at some of Europe’s best young players in high-stakes competitive games.

They might see nothing there that they think will improve the squad but there’s always the possibility they uncover another gem like Katic.
If that happens then it would make it a very worthwhile trip indeed.
