Rangers must steer clear of Daniel Sturridge swoop

Rangers are set for a busy summer in the transfer market as they look to finally wrestle the title away from bitter rivals Celtic next season – but one player they should steer clear of is axed Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.
Sturridge’s Liverpool departure was confirmed yesterday by the Anfield side, with manager Jurgen Klopp waxing lyrical about the injury-prone forward.

With the former Chelsea striker now a free agent, there have been suggestions on social media from fans that Steven Gerrard should swoop for him and bolster his attacking options.
However, with a terrible record of injuries and a pretty shoddy goalscoring record, it would be an over-priced gamble to bring the former England international north of the border.

A move for Sturridge would be far from cheap and with
Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe already at Ibrox, the Gers don’t need to be paying top dollar for someone who likely won’t play every week.
Klopp called the striker a “modern-day Liverpool great” as his departure was confirmed and it’s hard not to think the Anfield boss over-egged the pudding just a little bit.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see another striker arriving at Ibrox this summer but Rangers must steer well clear of Sturridge or it could end up another costly mess like the signing of Carlos Pena.
