With Rangers struggling for goals and creativity following the winter break, Steven Gerrard should bring Greg Stewart back into the fold for Wednesday night’s Premiership clash against Hibernian.
The 29-year-old is yet to feature for the club in 2020 after picking up an injury during the winter break.
However, according to the manager, he’s now fit again and available for selection [Rangers FC Twitter].
Gerrard has seemed reluctant at times to call upon the former Birmingham City man since his arrival in the summer.
17 appearances suggest fairly regular involvement, but he has less than 550 minutes under his belt and has only started five matches in Light Blue.

After a while on the sidelines, a start may beyond him once again against Hibs, with new signing Ianis Hagi likely take priority regardless.
Yet, it’s important that he at least returns to the squad. Rangers could do with his creativity and his knack of being in the right place at the right time.
With three goals and four assists giving him a direct goal contribution every 77 minutes over the first half of the campaign [Transfermarkt], he’s a major upgrade on the likes of Sheyi Ojo (every 160 minutes) and Brandon Barker (every 426 minutes).

He may not be the quickest, but he certainly has an eye for a pass and is good at picking up positions in between the lines.
With just six goals in five games since returning to competitive action, Rangers need something different, and even if it’s just off the bench on Wednesday night, Stewart is an option Gerrard should use.
