While over 100,000 Rangers fans were in Seville for last night’s Europa League final defeat by Eintracht Frankfurt some of us had to stay at home and watch on TV, enduring more than two hours of Stephen Craigan shouting at everything – and BT Sport need to get rid of the Northern Irishman after bellowing his way through Rangers’ European adventure.
There are few pundits anywhere who will garner universal acclaim – at least those not named Ally McCoist – but Craigan is up there with the very worst of the lot.
Despite occasionally having some interesting little bits of information to pass over during games, he ruins it by yelling constantly and often rambling nonsense.
With the likes of McCoist, Kenny Miller and Owen Hargreaves providing excellent analysis, there are surely better alternatives available that Craigan.
Rangers fans quickly got tired of former Motherwell star’s roaring comms
Last night was far from the first time Craigan has soured the experience for fans watching at home and, with BT holding the right for the Champions League and Europa League next season, we may have to suffer him even longer.
Maybe he doesn’t realise he’s doing it and maybe nobody has the heart to point it out but when on the night on Rangers’ biggest game in 50 years, fans are fed up listening to you, you’re doing something badly wrong.
Constantly trying to blow up minor events into huge controversies does little to help Craigan either and the way he went on about the knock to Frankfurt’s Rode, you’d have though John Lundstram had deliberately slashed him rather than catching him with his boot accidentally.
