Zak Rudden has been preferred to Alfredo Morelos in SPFL TOTW

Currently on loan at Falkirk, 18-year-old Zak Rudden has been preferred to Alfredo Morelos in the SPFL’s Team of the Week.

It is a real endorsement of the teenagers performance, that he has been chosen ahead of Morelos. The Colombian terrorised the Hearts defence throughout their encounter at Tynecastle, and grabbed the winning goal.

However, the loanee was even deadlier in a crucial Scottish Championship fixture. His two goals helped the languishing Bairns come back from an early deficit to stun Inverness CT at the Caledonian Stadium.

The young striker is making the most of the opportunity for first team football with the Bairns. Having already scored winning goals away at Alloa and Dunfermline this season, he is proving an invaluable asset for Falkirk.

On Saturday, he drew the visitors level, by converting a free header from the edge of the six-yard box. Shortly afterwards, he then put his team ahead after cutting inside from the left flank and firing low under the Caley Thistle ‘keeper.

It was an impressive all round display from the youngster, who will only grow in confidence with more minutes under his belt. This sort of recognition should also inspire him to greater successes in the coming weeks.

Maybe in a year or two, he’ll be banging them in at Ibrox.
