Wigan have hailed Rangers new boy Leon Balogun after an impressive loan spell at the DW Stadium – calling the Nigerian international an “outstanding representative” of the Latics during his time there.
The defender spent part of last season on loan with the Championship side and was a regular in the side as they fought against relegation.
💙 All the best to @LeonBalogun

It took a points deduction to seal Wigan’s fate but that didn’t stop the Super Eagles star from making an impression in the North West.
“All the best to Leon Balogun,” Wigan tweeted.
“An outstanding representative of our club during your brief time at the DW Stadium.”
Balogun could make his Rangers debut this afternoon when the Gers face Coventry in their final pre-season fixture of the summer.
Gerrard’s side have lost Niko Katic to injury and Filip Helander has vanished without a trace, leaving the Light Blues relying on Connor Goldson and George Edmundson.

With Wigan having only just finished their season, Balogun should be in good shape to come in and make an immediate impact as they Gers get ready for next weekend’s season opener against Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
It will be interesting to see whether Gerrard opts to stick with Goldson and Edmundson in central defence or if he decides to pair Goldson with Balogun.
