Tommy Wright praises Rangers ahead of Sunday's match against Saints

After an ultimately disappointing draw against Hibs in midweek, Rangers attentions now turn to Sunday.

With St Johnstone currently sitting in seventh place and comfortably dispatching Aberdeen a fortnight ago, this will be a difficult assignment.

Their manager, Tommy Wright, also pipped Steven Gerrard to the Manager of the Month award for November.

Speaking to the club’s website today, he heaped praise on the Gers.

“They played extremely well against what is a strong Hibs side”, he said.

“I think they may might have a few injury concerns from Wednesday night’s game. They’ve had a long season with their European involvement but I don’t think that’s going to bother them.”

“They have a very big squad filled with quality, so i’m sure they will be able to cope fine with it.”

Praise indeed from a manager who is doing a fine job with a much smaller squad.

One of the division’s longest serving managers, Wright has been in the Saints job five years. He certainly knows how to get the best out of his players, as demonstrated by a fourth place finish in the 2015-16 season.

Behind closed doors, he will undoubtedly be firing up his players. The Gers’ midweek performance may have been strong, but goals remained elusive.

With that in mind, the Saints may think the points are there for the taking.

It’s up to Morelos and co to ensure that doesn’t happen.
