Rangers captain James Tavernier has sent a message to Ibrox team-mate Lee Hodson after his move to Gillingham was confirmed – and told the Northern Irish international to “go smash it up” in England.
Hodson ended three years at Ibrox when he signed for Steve Evans’ side after his Rangers contract expired and Tavernier was quick to praise his former understudy.

Hodson has signed a two-year deal with Gillingham after managing 27 appearances for the Gers in his three years at Ibrox.
The former Watford defender never really got close to cementing a place in the starting XI at Ibrox and it’s no surprise to see him move on now that his contract has ended.
At 27, Hodson was never likely to displace Tavernier in the side and moving somewhere he can get regular games makes sense.

27 games in just under three years show just how far away from the standard needed that Hodson was.
