Ryan Kent and Borna Barisic both set to return at Dundee

There was fantastic news for Gers fans today, as it was confirmed that both Ryan Kent and Borna Barisic are available to face Dundee, on Sunday.

Their inclusion would provide a huge boost down the left flank, although it remains to be seen if either will start.

Barisic has been sidelined by a calf problem since October, while Kent sustained a hamstring injury early last month.

Gary McAllister confirmed their return in the closing stages of today’s press conference.

It was short and sweet from the Assistant Manager: ‘Suspensions, you know about. But, Borna (Barisic) and Ryan Kent, are back in contention, so that’s a big boost for the guys.’

Will either player start?

It would be a major surprise if Kent were to come straight into the starting XI. He hasn’t had any action for a month and instead, he is likely to offer an impact option from the bench.

Barisic, however, came through 45 minutes for Rangers Reserves against Kilmarnock on Monday. He should be nearing full fitness and could be brought in considering the current issues at left-back.

Jon Flanagan has often deputised in Croatian’s absence, but the fans and apparently now the manager, have grown tired of his below par performances.

The scouser was replaced at half-time on Wednesday night, during the 1-0 defeat to Aberdeen.

If Barisic does come in, he will ensure that Rangers once again have an attacking threat down the left. He will get forward and put balls into the box, providing improved service for the attacking players.

The return of these players, at least to the match day squad, constitutes a major positive heading into the weekend.
