Rangers keeper Robby McCrorie has told how Allan McGregor encouraged him to get out on loan and play regular games – and McCrorie thinks his subsequent spell at Morton was “ideal” for him.
McCrorie is expected to follow twin Ross into the first-team at Ibrox eventually but has had to bide his time with McGregor in stellar form between the sticks and the likes of Wes Foderingham waiting for a chance to shine.

“In the future I want to be the Rangers No 1, but in order to do that I have to have played competitive games. That’s why the Championship was ideal for me,”

“I spoke to him when he came back to the club last summer and he said the best thing he ever did was go out and get some games on loan early in his career.
“He then got his chance because of injuries and never looked back.”
McCrorie is yet to make his competitive first-team debut for the Gers but played regularly at Morton after joining the Ton on loan.

With McGregor nearing the end of his playing career, it likely won’t be long before we see McCrorie given his chance to shine.
