Scarcely a week goes by in Scottish football that there’s not a ridiculous link somewhere. And this week’s was the turn of Jose Mourinho.
The legendary football manager is out of work since leaving Manchester United, and yes, stories emerged claiming he’d been offered a deal by rivals Celtic [Di Marzio].
Needless to say, the report was eventually rubbished. But that didn’t stop Rangers fans having a chuckle on Twitter.
Hearing that Celtic did actually make Jose Mourinho an offer but Mourinho turned it down.
Now the PR machine is changing the news story to suggest Celtic never made the offer in the first place.
I asked Jose if he'd even consider the Celtic job… pic.twitter.com/usa50J8Yz0

Celtic really wanted John McGinn
They failed with 3 bids as they didn’t want to (or couldn’t) go above £2,000,000
Now all their fans are believing that they’ve offered José Mourinho the job.
A man who’s last wage was £18,000,000 per season
That’s £1,500,000 a month 😂😂😂😂

Rangers next match is against rivals Celtic at Ibrox, and Steven Gerrard’s side will be hoping to lay down a marker going into next season.
Jose Mourinho is one of the most highly sought-after coaches in world football. He’s also one of the most highly paid.
The story sent the Scottish football news machine into overdrive but of course, it was never likely to happen. Still, it was a good laugh whilst it lasted. Even if he remains 5/2 to take it on.
Whoever the next Celtic manager is could have a huge bearing on where the title ends up next season. For that reason, Rangers fans will have a close eye on developments at Parkhead.
At the moment, current boss Neil Lennon is a massive favourite for the role at 4/7. And that might not be a bad thing for Rangers.
Although thankfully, they’ll be safe in the knowledge it probably won’t be Jose Mourinho at the helm of Celtic Park.
