AS Monaco have announced the signing of reported Rangers target Radoslaw Majecki from Legia Warsaw [AS Monaco EN Twitter].

The 20-year-old goalkeeper has signed a contract until 2024 with the Ligue 1 side but will return to Legia on loan until the end of the current season.

Goal.com reported on Tuesday afternoon that Steven Gerrard had been keen on bringing the 6ft 3″ stopper to Ibrox, but that he had turned his attentions to Leeds United’s Kamil Miazek when it became clear that they would miss out on the former.

At least half of that report has played out in reality following today’s announcement.

Majecki kept a clean sheet against the Gers in Warsaw in August during the first leg of the Europa League Qualifying Play-Off Round, which is likely to be where the alleged interest stems from.

That was one of an impressive 14 shut-outs he’s recorded in 28 appearances in all competitions for Legia this season.

When you combine his recent form with his physical stature and experience at various levels of youth international football with Poland, it’s easy to understand why he’s been snapped up by a big club.

Rangers already have Allan McGregor, Robby McCrorie and Andy Firth tied to deals until at least the end of next season.

Yet, with both Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick set to leave at the expiration of their contracts in the summer, this alleged interest in bringing in another player, suggests the recruitment department are keen to ensure there’s plenty of depth to the goalkeeping ranks for the foreseeable future.
