A Scottish Herald report has ruled Rangers out of a late swoop for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Luis.
Earlier in the week, journalist, Alan Nixon, asserted on Twitter that Luis was available and that the Gers were ‘making a move’, hoping to bring him in on a ‘lengthy loan’ deal.

It was an exciting prospect, given that the 20-year-old has played a substantial amount of youth international football for Portugal, and has first-team experience at Sporting.
However, the Scottish Herald report has since asserted that Rangers ‘will not make a move’ for Luis.
It’s not all doom and gloom for Bears, though, with the same report claiming that Gerrard could add to his squad before Friday’s deadline.
Some Gers fans may have been excited about the potential of bringing in a player from an esteemed European club.
However, this speculation appears to have quickly been nipped in the bud with the Herald report tallying with Gary McAllister’s latest transfer comments.
The Rangers assistant manager made it clear on Tuesday that the club wasn’t looking for players with potential or squad players, but for established performers who could come straight into the starting XI [Glasgow Times].
While no doubt talented, it’s unlikely that with just 21 senior appearances for Sporting, Luis would be able to arrive at Ibrox and displace the likes of Davis, Jack or Kamara.
With just three days remaining, the wait goes on for the first signing of the window.
