Real Madrid fans react to Rangers friendly news; it might surprise you

As Rangers line up a friendly with Spanish giants Real Madrid the Ibrox club’s fans are understandably buzzing ahead of the clash later in the month.

As the Gers turn 150, the club’s hierarchy has pulled out all the stops to set up a pre-season at Ibrox the likes of which we have not seen in a long, long time.

Madrid’s trip to see the Gers comes after the club welcomes both Premier League Arsenal and Brighton to Ibrox and after Steven Gerrard’s side visit Tranmere Rovers and Blackpool.

This is a wide array of tests that are sure to get the players’ blood pumping ahead of a campaign full of early promise.

The Champions League is on the horizon – albeit via a very tough qualification phase – and Real Madrid’s visit will give these players a taste of what’s to come.

But whilst the benefits for Rangers are clear, what do fans of the Spanish giants have to say regarding their trip to Glasgow?

We take a look at some of the reaction in Madrid circles on Twitter as two of football’s most iconic clubs prepare to go head-to-head:

“That’s how I like it, playing at Ibrox” – @Agrifull140

“I love this Party! Madrid bets on history, British countries are pure history and football,#HalaMadrid” – @Louknoww

“Yeeeeeeiiiiiii, good thermometer, Gerrard’s Rangers are a tough team. We celebrated.” – @SteveMadRogers

“The party I didn’t know I needed” – @DarthFridik

“Counting the days to see a tremendous game. Not ironic.” – @_merks4

“Don Steve Gerrard !!!!!” – @listasadriand

“What better way to start preseason games than with Rangers” – @Daniel_RuizG

It’s a wholly positive reaction as two of football’s most successful sides are scheduled to meet in Glasgow later this month.
