On a night when then Academy tasted success in the UEFA Youth League at Firhill, the Rangers U16s team also secured victory against Motherwell.
While this was a lower profile clash, it was undoubtedly a more comprehensive victory, as the Young Gers dished out a hammering.
Rangers took the lead in the opening stages through Dire Mebude, who was part of the Scotland U16s squad which tasted Victory Shield success last week.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
Motherwell resisted admirably during the first period and were still in touch at half-time with the score at 2-1. Leyton Dunlop grabbing a second for the Gers.
The floodgates opened after the interval, though, with Robbie Ure, who has been prolific at this level so far this season, netting a brace, while both Mebude and Dunlop also doubled up.
Rangers under 16s have beaten the Motherwell under 16s 6-1. Doubles from Dire Mebude, Leyton Dunlop & Robbie Ure.

It’s another impressive result for a side who have swept away most opposition in 2019/20.
So far this season, they have won the SuperCup NI and the Albim Cup, while they reached the final of the recent Istria Cup in Croatia.

Meanwhile, in domestic competition, they have also looked dominant, dispatching Queen’s Park 5-0 at Lesser Hampden in one of the first acts of the campaign.
