Rangers U16s hammer Hamilton at Hummel Training Centre

Rangers U16s handed out another domestic hammering on Tuesday evening, defeating Hamilton Academical 5-0 at the Hummel Training Centre [Rangers Youth Updates].

Leyton Dunlop opened the scoring for the Young Gers inside 15 minutes by pouncing on a parried Robbie Ure strike.

From then until the break, the visitors did a good job of keeping things tight, with attempts to build on the lead thwarted.

As tends to be the pattern in these games, though, the opposition can only keep Rangers youth teams at bay for so long.

Shortly after the break, Matthew Henderson nipped in to double the advantage, signalling the opening of the floodgates.

Just minutes later, Robbie Ure converted a penalty to make it 3-0 and put the result beyond all doubt.

The Young Gers still pressed on for more, though, and Rory Wilson, who had replaced the injured Zak McKay during the first half, netted a late brace with both goals assisted by Jack Harkness.

5-0 the final score then, as the U16s continue to go from strength to strength.

This age-group side have proved near untouchable this season, winning both the SuperCup NI and Albim Cup, before exerting domestic dominance with wins over Motherwell and Hibernian.

Last weekend, they even put an English club side to the sword, defeating Wigan Athletic 8-0 in a friendly.
