Rangers are reportedly tracking Crystal Palace keeper Jack Butland as they look for potential replacements for Allan McGregor this summer.
According to the Sun, Rangers and Premier League-bound Bournemouth are both keeping tabs on the shotstopper amid uncertainty over his future at Palace.
The Premier League side have been linked with a move for Sam Johnstone after his West Brom exit and that could clear the way for Butland to move on.
Butland has played understudy to Vicente Guaita but was in Patrick Viera’s side towards the end of the season, making a handful of Premier League starts as well as playing in all of Palace’s FA Cup ties.
Rangers plans hinge on Allan McGregor future decision
Rangers bringing a new keeper in this summer will all depend on whether Allan McGregor plays on into next season or not.
If he does, signing another keeper doesn’t make any sense with McGregor, Jon McLaughlin and Robby McCrorie already at Ibrox.
But if McGregor does decide to retire, then there’s a high chance that van Bronckhorst will add another keeper to his squad.
Jack Butland would be an interesting choice for Rangers and the Englishman would undoubtedly only be here if he was challenging for starts.
The Englishman has a handful of caps to his name, representing England at a World Cup and Great Britain at the Olympics but he’s been out of the picture for four years.
A move to Ibrox could help push him back into the frame for England – but we’ll need to wait and see what McGregor decides to do first.
