Former Rangers star Madjid Bougherra has admitted that it would be “perfect” to return to Ibrox on the day the Gers win the league title, as the Algerian revealed that he’s not been back since leaving the Light Blues in 2011.
Bougherra was a big favourite with Gers fans during his time at Ibrox and the former defender was an interested spectator on Saturday as they faced Lokomotiv Tashkent in Dubai.

The defender left the club to sign for Qatar’s champions Lekhwiya and confessed that he still misses the Gers, calling his spell at Ibrox the “best experience” of his career.
“I have never been back to Rangers since the day I left. I just never had the time,” Bougherra said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“When I heard they would be in Dubai I wanted to come and see the game and friends such as Steven and Allan, as well as Jimmy Bell and other members of the staff.
“I miss the place. It is something special – the atmosphere around the club, the fans, everything is amazing. In my career, my best experience at any club was at Rangers. I left very fast. I didn’t get the chance to have a proper goodbye and this is why one day I hope to return.
“I want to go back and see one game at Ibrox and it would be perfect to return on the day Rangers win the title again.”
Bougherra is now manager of Fujairah Football Club after taking the reins last summer, with the Red Wolves currently sitting 12th in their domestic league.

During his time at Ibrox, Bougherra lifted three league titles, a single Scottish Cup and a couple of League Cups as he excelled at the heart of the Gers defence alongside David Weir.
After his quickfire exit in 2011, Bougherra would be a massively popular visitor if/when he makes his next trip to Ibrox – and if it is to coincide with Rangers winning the league then, hopefully, he has a trip planned for this coming May.
