That’s according to Football Scotland, who claim the Ibrox side want to tie the 18-year-old talent down on a new contract after breaking through into the first team this season.
Robbie Ure made his first Rangers start under Giovanni van Bronckhorst this season and scored on his debut, nabbing the first goal in a 3-1 League Cup win over Queen of the South.
It gave Rangers fans a first glimpse of what the Scotland youth international – who is also eligible to play for Ukraine – can bring to the side in the years to come.
It’s been a long time since Rangers had a homegrown striker banging them in at Ibrox and if Robbie Ure can continue his development we’re sure he’ll be a fan favourite in Govan.
Rangers open Robbie Ure talks
The striker is currently out of contract come the end of the season so any prospective new deal makes a lot of sense and it’s not just in the Rangers first team the striker has made an impression.
Robbie Ure has 10 Lowland League goals and six assists this season in only 16 matches and is part of the reason why the club’s B side are four points clear in the division with a game in hand.
It’s not the first time Rangers have been linked with a new Robbie Ure deal either, with reports emerging in September regarding a contract.
With his entire career in front of him, Ure spoke to RangersTV after netting against the Doonhammers and as you would expect, the striker was absolutely delighted.
“It’s a thing I’ve dreamt of doing ever since I remember to obviously get my debut at Ibrox and then to add it with a goal ten minutes in,” said Robbie Ure.
“It’s a dream come true. It’s just really special, I was just excited. It’s just everything I’ve wanted to do so doing it for the first time, it was great.
“Obviously Glen’s set the ball off to me and I’ve just tried to hit it on target and I think it’s taken a wee deflection but yeah they all count and it was a great moment for me.”
Whilst Rangers look to be in talks over a Robbie Ure deal, the brakes have been put on links to one Premiership rival.
