Rangers fans have heaped praise on Steven Gerrard after the manager sent a classy message to a fan.
The global health crisis has ensured the Gers haven’t been in action since mid-March.
The Scottish Premiership season has now formally been brought to an end and while the Europa League is still a live competition, it’s potential return still seems some way off.
All that means we’ve heard a lot less from Steven Gerrard recently.
The Rangers manager is normally in front of microphones at press conferences several times a week, providing updates to the media and by extension, to the club’s legions of supporters.
The odd interview aside, though, Gerrard has had a chance to get away from it all recently, whilst staying at home with his family.
That hasn’t stopped him sending a message to an individual supporter currently going through hard times, though.
Rangers fan @porthendry was the recipient of the video, sharing it on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.
“Hello Billy, it’s Steven Gerrard here, mate,” began the Gers boss. “I just wanted to drop you a little short video message just to see how you’re doing. I’m told you’ve been spending a little bit of time in hospital of late, so I just wanted to wish you well and hope that you have a speedy recovery.”
“On another note, I just want to send my thanks as well. I’m told you’re a huge Rangers fan – you follow the team all over the country and all over Europe, I’m even told you made the effort to go to Ufa which was fantastic.
“So, big thanks from me and the players and we wish you well, we’re right behind you. You stay strong and I’m sure you’ll make a fast recovery.”
The video has since received a lot of attention on Twitter, with plenty of Bears praising the manager for the gesture and passing on their own well-wishes to their fellow supporter.
Here’s a selection of reactions:
