The Gers Store Online has told Rangers fans travelling to Ibrox for tonight’s match against Young Boys that the pop-up shop at the Louden Tavern will be closed.
The retailer has blamed the situation on a “technical issue”.
They have also informed fans that their St. Enoch Square store – conveniently next to the subway which can take you to Ibrox – will be open until 8pm.
The pop-up Gers store at the Louden Tavern was first trialled when the Ibrox side hosted Marseille in a pre-season friendly [Louden Tavern].
It was then rolled out against St. Joseph’s in the Europa League Qualifying campaign and has been a regular fixture on matchdays since.
It offers supporters visiting the match the chance to buy Official licensed Rangers kit and memorabilia knowing the money will go to the club.
The Ibrox Megastore – the retail space connected to the stadium – continues to suffer from a fan boycott due to the influence of Sports Direct and Mike Ashley.
Unfortunately visiting fans won’t be able to purchase official Rangers products from the pop-up store this time around.
But the creative solution is sure to be a common sight in the future as the club continues to battle with it’s merchandising off the pitch.
