Rangers star riles Celtic fans as Ibrox hero gets under the skin of rivals

Rangers midfielder John Lundstram gave an emphatic post-match interview following the victory over Aberdeen – and sent Celtic fans haywire in the process.

The Scouse midfielder was asked about Rangers players and their approach to Celtic in the title race, and the response was as contemptuous as we’d have hoped.

The 28-year-old ex-Sheffield United star is a hero in the Ibrox ranks but his tough style has earned him no friends in the eastend with Celtic fans everywhere increasingly triggered by the player.

We’re not saying that in responding to the question John Lundstram was deliberately trying to goad the Celtic support, rather he was no doubt trying to get a message across to Rangers fans, but goad them he has.

Rangers star John Lundstram has Celtic teeth gnashing

Twitter is awash with fuming Celtic fans complaining about Lundstram’s comments as the midfielder claimed the gap in the title race is Rangers’ own doing.

If that lack of respect wasn’t enough, the delivery and insistence that Celtic is a dirty word at Rangers is enough to raise a wry smile in blue households and see blood boil in green ones.

“Celtic have never been spoken about,” explains John Lundstram.

“Not once in our dressing room.

“We don’t need to speak about Celtic. When we’re not playing Celtic there’s no need for us to speak about them.

“We’re four points behind Celtic off our own back – nothing to do with Celtic.

“They beat us 4-0 away from home because we didn’t perform.

”It’s on us – it’s nothing to do with them.”

The contempt, the bullishness, the subtle aggression.

The reaction shows that John Lundstram does have have the ability to get under the skin of the Celtic support and if the big man can start to utilise it more for Rangers, he’ll have every, single one of them on strings before long.

Let’s see what happens at Ibrox in January.

Meanwhile, one manager linked to the Rangers job was spotted at Ibrox this weekend.
