This time, one year ago, Tom Lawrence was flying for Rangers, he was scoring goals and creating chances- the attacking midfielder we had been crying out for.
Little did he know that he would play just two more games that season as Giovanni van Bronckhorst looked to steer his side to the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven.
Tom Lawrence is back though and the Rangers creator is hoping, as reported by The Scotsman, that his teammates can cope without him this season and give him what he missed out on last season and the chance to play against the continent’s best.

The 29-year old came as close as you can to scoring against PSV in the second leg last year.
A 30 yard screamer dipped off the crossbar after he had evaded a couple of defenders.

This is what Tom Lawrence brings to Rangers and his goal for the B team is the perfect example.
Tom Lawrence Rangers dream for Champions League return
He might not be eligible to play this time around in Eindhoven but you get the feeling that he will be kicking every ball, praying to get a second chance:
“That night in Eindhoven was very special.
“It had been a long time since the club had been in the Champions League so to be involved that night was amazing.
“Obviously I didn’t plan what happened after that.
“I’d have loved to have been part of those Champions League games but it wasn’t to be.
“But I hope now the lads can get through and I can play a part in them this time.
“The club is on the verge of it again.
“One big performance can take us back.
“We’ve done it once, so why not do it again?“

If last season Van Bronckhorst had to rely on Scott Arfield in the Champions League, should Rangers make it through, the current Gers boss has an embarrassment of riches.
The pain of last year is still fresh in the memory too so, players like Lawrence will be wanting to set the record straight.
PSV will provide one of our hardest games this season even if we do qualify and Tom Lawrence will be kicking every ball as he asks for one more big performance.
If anyone deserves to hear the famous theme tune it’s Lawrence.
