Rangers signing Brandon Barker's latest comments should excite fans

Brandon Barker has spoken about his initial ambitions at Rangers, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times, and his comments make for exciting reading for Bears.
The 22-year-old joined the club on a permanent deal from Manchester City earlier this month.

It was a deal which came as something of a surprise given a lack of recent links to the winger but with Daniel Candeias departing, Eros Grezda’s future uncertain and Glenn Middleton subsequently heading on loan to Hibs, it made sense that Gerrard would strengthen further on the flanks.
Barker has experienced Scottish football before during a 2017/18 stint at Easter Road, and while he was a little inconsistent, he showed bags of potential. He’s an exciting talent and it sounds like he’s ready to take Ibrox by storm.

Especially, after receiving wise words from his former teammate, Raheem Sterling.

Rangers signing Brandon Barker’s comment show excitement for fresh start

“The best advice was just to be yourself and never be afraid,” he said, as quoted by the Evening Times. “I think that’s how I play. It doesn’t matter who I’m playing, I don’t have any fear, and hopefully, I can show the fans what I’m all about.”
“I needed a new home, I’d needed one for the last two seasons. Now I have that opportunity and I’m just buzzing.
“Rangers came in, Steven Gerrard phoned me, and it was an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down.”

Verdict

For Rangers fans, it’s always nice to hear that a new signing appreciates the honour of donning the Light Blue strip.
Barker stats from last season on loan at Preston don’t inspire much confidence. He registered just two assists and failed to score in 16 Championship appearances.
Yet, it’s apparent across the interview that he believes this switch to Rangers will get more out of him. Last season was his fourth consecutive loan spell and it seems he was feeling jaded and in need of some stability.
Stevie G offered him that and will hopefully now reap the rewards.

It will be interesting to see if Barker is included in the side to take on East Fife this afternoon. His introduction is one of a host of changes in our Predicted XI.
