Rangers are close to sealing their third summer signing, according to a report, with Northern Ireland captain Steven Davis “on the verge” of agreeing a permanent return to Ibrox.
According to the Scottish Sun, talks are ongoing over a long-term deal for the 34-year-old midfielder with an agreement “close.”

Davis returned to Ibrox on a six-month loan deal in January and has been a key part of Steven Gerrard’s side in recent weeks.
The veteran midfielder initially struggled to force his way into the starting XI following his loan move but has started consistently in recent weeks.

With his Southampton contract up at the end of the season, Davis is free to hold talks over his next move but it looks as though he’ll be a Rangers player after the summer.
Gerrard’s side has already snapped up Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones and Motherwell’s Jake Hastie as the Gers boss tries to strengthen his squad.

Since returning to Ibrox in January, Davis has made 16 appearances but is yet to get on the scoresheet.
With a handful of games left in the season, hopefully, Davis can build on his recent impressive form and show exactly why Gerrard is so keen to keep him at Ibrox.
