Rangers set to launch summer swoop for potential Goldson replacement - report

Rangers could be set to launch a bid to sign Dundee United defender Ross Graham, according to a report.

According to Alan Nixon, the Light Blues are plotting a summer swoop for the Scotland youth international, with the Tannadice side ready to “cash in if the right offer comes along.”

Graham scored the equaliser when Rangers met Dundee United at Tannadice in February, having been recalled from a loan spell at Dunfermline that saw him barely feature at East End Park.

Since returning to the Arabs, Graham has featured 10 times in the Scottish Premiership for Tam Courts’ side, scoring twice and recording three clean sheets.

The Light Blues have already signed John Souttar ahead of the new season but could lose Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun, with both out of contract in the summer.

That would leave only Souttar and Fil Helander as experienced central defenders at Ibrox going into the new campaign so there are likely to be further additions – if both Balogun and Goldson move on.

Rangers face huge summer of rebuilding

With so many senior players either out of contract this summer or next, Rangers face a huge rebuild in the close season.

Additions like Graham will help bolster the depth of the squad but there needs to be better coming in to strengthen the starting XI.

Too many signings in recent times have been fillers and, while Graham is still young, Rangers need to be aiming higher with their targets.
