James Tavernier has first dibs on penalties and free kicks at Rangers for a reason, his success rate speaks for itself, but Todd Cantwell is waiting in the wings should the skipper slip up.
The playmaking midfielder has taken set pieces in the past and is known for his technical ability even if he has yet to be given the chance since moving to Glasgow.
A point the Rangers star has brought up with Soccer AM’s Tubes and Jimmy Bullard when Todd Cantwell joined them for a round of golf at Gleneagles.

The Gers skipper fired five free-kicks last season as he took his ball striking skills to another level.
Fast approaching 110 goals, Tavernier is more than just a good penalty taker.

His stunning strike against Ross County is the latest in a highlight reel of screamers.
Rangers have a lot of options but Cantwell is dying to get his turn.
Rangers set-piece hope for Todd Cantwell
It is a shot at Rangers free kicks and penalties Todd Cantwell is dying for.
When asked by Jimmy Bullard if he took free-kicks and was reminded that Tavernier takes them, Cantwell couldn’t help but praise the captain.
“Oh my god.
“His stats are ridiculous for a right-back.“
And, when Bullard asked:
“Do you ever fancy yourself from free-kicks?”
To which Cantwell confidently replied:
“Yeah, a lot.
“He’s been here eight years, Jim and he’s the club captain.
“It’s tough, it is tough.
“When he ain’t playing, I’ll be there yeah.
“He takes penalties as well!”
With Borna Barisic covering the left footed option for Rangers, Todd Cantwell and Kieran Dowell will have to wait their turn.

That Ianis Hagi and Tom Lawrence were also down the pecking order shows the luxury of options that Michael Beale has for Rangers, Todd Cantwell will have to wait his turn.
From a selfish point of view, hopefully Cantwell doesn’t get to have his way.
Because it means that James Tavernier is still scoring goals for Rangers.
