Rangers flop Phil Senderos has announced his retirement from playing after a career that saw him play for the likes of Arsenal, Valencia, AC Milan, Everton and Rangers – and fans have been paying tribute to the veteran on Twitter.
The 34-year-old spent a season at Ibrox but only managed a handful of appearances as he struggled to impress in Glasgow before heading to America to sign for Houston Dynamo.
The former Swiss international played his final game on Sunday as he turned out for Swiss second-tier side Chiasso, as they were held to a 3-3 draw by FC Aarau.
Senderos confirmed his decision in a statement posted on his official Twitter account as he thanked each of his former clubs for the opportunities given to him.
The defender also won 57 caps for his country, making the squad for three World Cups, as well as Euro 2008.
Fans took to Twitter to wish Senderos luck in the future as he weighs up his next move following retirement.
