Rangers predicted XI v Hearts as Judgement Day beckons for Gio

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst approaches a must-win match with Hearts knowing anything but three points will see the atmosphere at Ibrox turn as toxic as it has been in living memory.

The Gers support are bitterly disappointed in the club’s tragic downturn in domestic form ever since winning the Premiership in 2021 with Celtic now seven points ahead in the title race.

Couple this with the repeated failures of this squad domestically and the sentiment that they don’t have the guts to wear the jersey, and suddenly the Ibrox cauldron has become a pressure cooker.

If the players cannot stand up to the frustrations of the crowd – frustrations that their low level of performance have built up – then the man who stands to lose the most against Hearts is Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Whilst the bubbling toxicity of frustration has splashed further than the Dutchman – with many already giving up on some of these players – it’s Van Bronckhorst’s head on the chopping block against Hearts.

The Boardroom, recruitment, attitude of everyone and everything at Rangers is under the microscope and whilst many believe it’s already the End of Days for GVB, expect protests come full-time if there is anything but three points.

During his tenure at Rangers, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has stuck with several of his regular first-teamers and we expect him to do the same here.

Allan McGregor is likely to start, whilst injuries mean a defence containing Borna Barisic, Leon King and James Tavernier is inevitable.

Rangers summer signing Ben Davies came off in the 2-1 defeat to St Johnstone but we’re backing him to return against Hearts.

In midfield, John Lundstram and Glen Kamara get the nod, with Malik Tillman playing in front of them and the club having a decision to make in attack.

Ryan Kent – despite the winger’s downturn in form – is a shoo-in to start, whilst Antonio Colak gets our nod up front with Scott Wright the man to replace Fashion Sakala out right.
