Rangers need fan favourite Candeias to step up against St Johnstone

With Alfredo Morelos sidelined through suspension, other players now need to take more responsibility in the final third.
Daniel Candeias is one of them.
The Portuguese is a fan favourite at Ibrox, and rightly so.

Unlike some wide players who have donned the jersey in recent years, you know what you’re going to get from him.
100% commitment and bags of energy.
He has a trick or two up his sleeve, too.
Bears were outraged when he was ousted for the defeat at Kilmarnock after the winter break, in order to make room for new arrivals, Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis.

Any time he is left out, the Gers look lost without the natural width he offers.

Therefore, after that chastening loss at Rugby Park, more often than not, he has been included from the start.

Rangers need goals and assists

Yet, while he does bring a lot to the table, recently, the goals have dried up.
He was extremely influential in November, scoring in three straight matches. He grabbed the winner against Hamilton in mid-December, too.
However, there has been nothing in his last ten appearances.
When you look at his overall season, four goals and two assists isn’t a whole lot to shout about.

It can’t all be left up to Defoe and Lafferty in Morelos’ absence. For success to come, everyone needs to chip in during the run in.
Whether that means gambling to get on the end of crosses or a little more composure in the final third, it would be a great help if Candeias could get back among the goals.
