Rangers star Alfredo Morelos aiming to fill Falcao's boots for Colombia

Ranger striker Alfredo Morelos has admitted he is “very proud” to have been recalled to the Colombia squad for their upcoming games with Chile and Algeria – and the Ibrox goal-machine is hoping to take his opportunity to fill Radamel Falcao’s boots.

Colombia boss has left Falcao and Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez out of the squad for the friendlies in Alicante and Lille and Morelos sees it as a “great opportunity” to cement his place in the national squad.

El Buffalo has been in blistering form for Rangers this season so far and insists that he wants to do his “absolute best” for his country with the two superstars missing.

“With Falcao not being in the squad on this occasion, of course I view this as a great opportunity for me,” Morelos said, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“It’s a chance to get more experience with my national team and I want to do my absolute best.

“Yes, it’s been a good start to the season for me. I have scored a number of important goals for Rangers already.

“I’ve just tried to keep doing things my way and the reward for me has been a call-up to the national team, which makes me very proud indeed.”

Morelos has scored 13 times so far this season and looks well on course to beat last season’s mark of 30 goals for the full campaign.

After making his international debut last year and picking up a handful of caps, Morelos was excluded from the 40-man pool named for the Copa America over the summer despite Queiroz naming 10 strikers.

Since then though, Morelos has continued to impress and has put in a string of incredible performances for Rangers this season to force his way back into the fold at international level.
