Steven Gerrard has praised Rangers centre-back, Connor Goldson, for his remarkable durability ahead of Saturday’s game against Hamilton, as captured by RangersTV.
The Gers are in Scottish Cup Fifth Round action and it’s likely that the 27-year-old will continue in the XI alongside either George Edmundson or Nikola Katic.

That’s because he’s featured more than any other player so far this season, racking up and incredible 41 appearances and 3690 minutes of action.
“I think Connor has been extremely consistent,” said Gerrard, as captured by RangersTV. “I think he’s had one or two games where he probably hasn’t been himself, but Connor hasn’t missed a training session.”
“He’s played the most games this season, he’s very robust. He’s always there for you, you can trust him and there’s no doubt about it he makes this team a lot stronger.
“So, I’m delighted with his form, he needs to continue that to the end of the season, because it certainly gives us a better chance of being successful.”
Verdict
Goldson doesn’t always get major plaudits from Rangers fans, but Gerrard’s words here make it clear how vital he sees him to his plans.
Undoubtedly the first choice out of the club’s four senior centre-backs, the ex-Brighton defender put in some big performances over the first half of the season, registering clean sheets against the likes of Porto and Feyenoord at Ibrox.
His contributions at the top end of the pitch have been important, too.
While he hasn’t netted for some time, his four goals have helped bring about some few important results, with his late winner at Kilmarnock on the opening day a particularly vital contribution.
With Filip Helander set to be out injured for some time yet, Goldson is the experienced head in the centre of defence and he’ll continue to be called upon week in, week out.
