Two Rangers loanees, Greg Docherty of Shrewsbury Town and Jak Alnwick of Scunthorpe United, went head-to-head today in League One.
Both teams are still in real danger of relegation to the fourth tier of English football, so there was a lot riding on the fixture.
For much of the game, it looked like Alnwick’s Scunthorpe, the away side, would take all three points.
However, Docherty’s Shrews had the benefit of crowd support and piled on the pressure at New Meadow.
Eventually, the Iron succumbed, with former St Mirren player Adam Hammill scoring an own goal in the dying embers of the game.
With the points shared, neither team was able to pull away from trouble. Scunthorpe are two points above the drop in 18th, while the Shrews are up in 14th, but only two points better off.
Only one loanee has an Ibrox future
Both of these players are set to return to Rangers at the end of the season.
However, it looks likely that only Greg Docherty has a future in the famous shirt.
He’s still learning his trade and was sent off to gain experience, but still has three years worth of contract left at Ibrox.
Of course, Foderingham could try to leave in search of first-team football this summer.
Yet, in that event, the Gers may look elsewhere, with Killie loanee Daniel Bachmann already claiming his agents have been contacted [LAOLA1].
