Rangers loanee James Maxwell starred for Ayr Utd as they defeated fellow Scottish Championship side Raith Rovers 2-0 to ignite their bid to steer clear of the relegation places.
This was the first league win for Ayr since October, and it was badly needed in their bid to remain in the division.
Maxwell provided the assist for striker Tomi Adeloye to slot home the opener before Mark McKenzie wrapped up all three points as he scored a second.
It could have been more as Adeloye had a penalty saved by Raith keeper Jamie MacDonald as the Fife side suffered their second straight defeat.

His form has not gone unnoticed, as Partick Thistle is reportedly looking to sign the young Scot on a permanent transfer from Rangers amid his excellent form [DailyRecord].
Rangers would be able to recall the player in January before then selling him to Partick, who currently have a positive relationship with the Ibrox side, having two Rangers players on loan at the club.
Maxwell looks set to have a bright future in the game, although it looks increasingly likely that it will be away from Ibrox.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst stated in his first press conference that players will be given a chance, no matter how young or old they were, giving every player a fresh start at the club.
With youngsters such as Leon King, Stephen Kelly, and Tony Weston progressing well, the club is in an excellent place when it comes to youth talent.
