Rangers loanee Eduardo Herrera close to Necaxa return

Eduardo Herrera may not have played for the club since February 2018, but he is still a Rangers player.
After an unsuccessful stint at Santos Laguna during the first half of this season, things had started rather better elsewhere, in 2019.

The target man
scored three in four matches after joining Necaxa on loan, back in January.
That ratio represented a marked improvement on his fortunes in Glasgow.
In 24 appearances for the Gers, he scored just twice. Those strikes came away at Ross County and Partick Thistle, ensuring he doesn’t actually have a goal at Ibrox.

Unfortunately, though, what had been a positive start, has been disrupted by injury.
The 30-year-old was forced off during a 3-3 draw with Chivas Guadalajara, on 10th February.
He’s been sidelined ever since and it seems as though his adopted side have missed him.

They have since lost four and won just one of their last six fixtures, slipping to seventh in the Liga MX standings.
However, an update he posted on Twitter on Monday, suggests a return is near.
The post included a picture of Herrera lunging in the gym, and was accompanied by a caption which included the ‘back’ and ‘soon’ emojis.

Despite being contracted to the Gers until the summer of 2020, there isn’t much chance of him featuring again, once this loan expires.
Therefore, once fully recovered, he’ll likely be looking to impress enough to earn a permanent deal in his native Mexico.
