Rangers legend lauded for intelligent John Lundstram Hearts commentary

The razor-sharp commentary of Rangers legend Ally McCoist has been lauded across the UK and once again the former Ibrox striker has fans talking following his coverage of the win over Hearts.

Ex-Gers manager McCoist, 60, was on commentary duties alongside Ian Crocker as the Ibrox side went to Tynecastle and ran out comfortable 4-0 winners over Robbie Neilson’s side.

In buoyant mood as always, particularly given Rangers’ performance, one line from Super Ally has caught the attention of plenty.

With half an hour on the clock, John Lundstram raked the ball over to Rabbi Matondo on the right before the winger helped construct Rangers’ second goal of the day.

But it’s one intelligent quip which has had plenty talking online as McCoist described Lundstram’s bullet as being “straight out the one o’clock gun”.

Ally McCoist lauded for One o’Clock Gun Rangers Hearts quip

For those wondering, the one o’clock gun is fired daily from Edinburgh Castle – except on Sundays – and goes all the way back to 1861.

Maritime clocks were set by the One o’Clock Gun with businessman John Hewat bringing the idea back from Paris.

Fired from the Mills Mount Battery, the One o’Clock Gun remains a tourist attraction in Edinburgh and you can read more about it HERE.

But from a Rangers point of view, Lundstram’s pass was on the half hour mark and with the game kicking off at 12:30pm, that means it was at around 1pm.

The quick wit and intelligence from Ally McCoist to land that line is immense and it’s little wonder Rangers fans and those of rivals Hearts have been saluting the legendary striker in the aftermath.

Renowned for his passionate, insightful and entertaining coverage of the beautiful game, Rangers’ greatest ever goalscorer remains one of the club’s greatest ambassadors.

Meanwhile, an £18m Belgian winger has shown Rangers the route to glory in the Champions League.
