Josh McPake has been linked with a Rangers exit this summer after several loan stints away from the club – and the talented youngster is putting the hours in at the gym to get himself into top shape for the new campaign.
McPake spent last season with Morecambe and Tranmere and reports suggest that he is set to leave Ibrox after struggling to force his way into the first-team at Rangers.
Amid suggestions of attitude problems, McPake has taken to social media to try put those to bed and show he is putting in the graft to get ready for the new season – where he might end up.
In a clip showing the former Scotland youth international in the gym, McPake also added a screenshot of a 4k run he’d undertaken, completing it in just under 15 minutes.
McPake came off the bench in a Europa League qualifier against St Joseph’s in 2019 to make his first-team debut and even signed a new deal only last year, tying him to the club until 2024 but hasn’t hit the heights expected.
Things reached such a low point that McPake was even rumoured to be on the brink of having his Rangers contract ripped up earlier this year.
Big summer for McPake amid Rangers exit rumours
After being touted for the top a few years ago, McPake’s career has stalled in recent season and he really needs to kick on soon.
The next few months are going to be crucial to his long-term development and a Rangers exit seems the obvious move for both parties.
With links to Hapoel be’er Sheva among other clubs, McPake shouldn’t be too short of options if he does leave Rangers this summer.
